Equipment that sits all winter and works around the clock in July puts wear on everything at once. SFR was born on the Montana high-line, and center-pivot gearboxes were among the first things it fixed.
Every fortifier follows the same published dose — 1½ oz per quart (5%) the first time, 1 oz per quart (3%) at each change after — except where friction is part of how the unit works. Those rows are marked.

Check what your manufacturer specifies for each unit. Many late-model transfer cases, and some manual transmissions and transaxles, call for automatic transmission fluid rather than gear oil. Rule of thumb: anything that calls for ATF (transmissions, transfer cases, trim and tilt units, power steering) gets no SFR fortifier, H-ZOL included. The one product for ATF is ProTecta Synthetic Transmission Treatment. A tractor whose hydraulics share one fluid with the transmission, wet brakes or PTO clutch gets 1% only. Yes, at 1% and no more. Hydrostatic drives work on partial friction: 1% has been shown to smooth power-shift shifting, but more can cause slip. Hydraulics on their own reservoir — loader, cylinders, remotes — take the standard 1½ oz per quart first, 1 oz per quart after. If the hydraulics share one fluid with the transmission, wet brakes or PTO clutch (universal tractor fluid), that whole system gets 1% only.
GEARZOL or SFR 100 at 10%, about 3.2 oz per quart of gear oil. Pivot gearboxes are rarely drained, so they get one treatment at the full rate. Both carry corrosion protection for the water that gets into pivot gear cases.
D-SOL Multi-Function All Season, year round if you like: it protects the tank and lines against rust, keeps stored fuel stable, adds lubricity for the injection pump and handles cold-flow in winter. One gallon treats 400 gallons.
In anything that works on friction, yes: hydrostatic drives, limited-slip differentials, shared tractor fluid and wet-clutch motorcycles get 1% and no more, and automatic transmissions get none. Everywhere else, no. Customers have used up to 10% in engines with substantial results, and in our testing protection keeps improving up to 10%; past that it is not worth the cost. For most engines the economical rate is 5% the first time and 3% after. For gearboxes you treat once and rarely drain, 10% is ideal.
